About John L. Wright
After a childhood spent staring into the sky, flying was my dream. I chased that dream to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where I earned my bachelor's degree and commercial pilot's license. Through internships with the Office of the Chief Counsel for the Federal Aviation Administration and with American Airlines, I became drawn to the business of aviation. My dream evolved and I went to law school. I received my J.D. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and my Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Denver.
I have now been a part of the aviation industry for over two decades, practicing law for more than half that time. My clients have ranged from entrepreneurs and pilots to multi-million dollar corporations and international air carriers. I handle business acquisitions, entity formations, aviation transactions, regulatory compliance issues, and strategic tax matters. As a natural extension of that practice, I also defend airmen and businesses that are confronted with regulatory enforcement actions.
I continue to stay active and current as a pilot, most recently adding a glider rating to my commercial license. My time in the air, however, is now shared with time in the mountains. I am an avid trail runner and enjoy snowshoeing, skiing and hiking with my wife and daughter. One way or the other, if I am not in the office, you will most likely find me somewhere at a higher altitude.
